It has been claimed that SEMCORP received state support under government decisions that were kept from the public. This is not the case.
The support SEMCORP received for its Debrecen investment was announced publicly by the Government on 10 November 2020, on the day the investment was confirmed:
The grant was awarded under the individual government decision (EKD) scheme and is tied to the investment and job-creation commitments above. SEMCORP has received no other direct financial support from the Hungarian state.
Figures of several hundred billion forints that have appeared in connection with the battery industry in Debrecen do not relate to SEMCORP.
Until June 2026, the actual size of the investment from SEMCORP has reached HUF 192 billion, creating approximately 750 jobs in its Debrecen plant.
